Hellman Avenue apartment project

Opposed the 48-unit Hellman Avenue project, citing the dangerous Chandler/Hellman intersection, chronic underreporting of accidents, and a lack of moderately priced housing; asked that the project be moved to Saturn Park.

An Alhambra resident of 40 years, she described non-stop traffic on Hellman and a fatal pedestrian accident at the intersection, and urged the city to find an alternate location for the 48 units.

Asked the council, within Brown Act limits, to refer the project to the city manager, city attorney and planning staff for a full written review of density bonus calculations, waivers and exceptions, and to protect existing residents.

A Hathaway Avenue resident of 42 years, he described pedestrian danger, hotel overflow parking and litter, and asked that the project be moved or its density reduced.
